This week was the first week back in uni after we handed in out Transdisciplinary Project and our Dissertation and I am really ready to get back into the core of my project after what I feel was a bit of a deflating semester two. Although it really turned out well in the end, I still feel like I wasted so much time focusing on one thing when maybe I could have been doing something else. I'm finding it hard to let that go but I know I need to move on from it and focus on the semester (and my future) ahead.

We kickstarted the semester on Tuesday by meeting in the Redmonds Building with Kayla and Josh (a previous BA & MA student who is now completing his PHD) who we met last semester. It was really great to see him again and talk to him about how my project has progressed since then.

I discussed what I did for my Transdisciplinary Project, discussing the initial idea, how that didn't come to fruition, my frustrations and then finally meeting Veronika and Cathy to create something amazing in The Retreat. I also mentioned that I was now a member on the board of The Recreational Wardrobe along with Veronika and Cathy which is really exciting news. When I reflect on my dissertation, I feel like it was kind of a letter to myself, to focus more and to push myself to be creative and I now see how having these creative partnerships is going to support me in doing this, not only in my Major Project but after uni as well.

I then explained what I researched and wrote for my dissertation, to which Josh mentioned that I could create some kind of Wellbeing Toolkit. We discussed this further and I shared that I was very aware that I need to make an income after university and this would be a good way to monetize what it is I am already working towards. If I'm honest, it doesn't feel super exciting to me, and I'm not sure how I would go about it as of now, but I guess that's what this semester is all about, focusing my time and energy on something that will benefit me once I finish this course.

I feel really excited to put the last semester kind of behind me and start a fresh this semester. For me, it is the semester of FUN and CREATIVITY! I don't want to be sat at a computer the whole time so it's important that I plan my weeks efficiently and I make sure I do something creative, not only for myself but for my MA as well.

On Friday I am heading out to Shanghai for two weeks with some other students from LJMU. I've never been to China before so I am looking forward to this new experience, the culture, the food and the people I'm going to meet. During the two weeks we will be buddied up with a student from Shanghai University to create an outfit we have designed so that we can showcase it on the catwalk at the end of the trip. I'm really excited to actually make something again use my pattern cutting and sewing skills.

I'm not going to put much pressure on myself to create anything for Major Project whilst I'm away so there isn't an action plan for this week. When I return from Shanghai, I will dedicate time to developing a clear project timeline. I’ll begin by identifying which creative outcomes I want to prioritise, ensuring a balance between hands-on making and research.
